Reversing Key
Description
A Reversing Key is a laboratory or electrical tool used for rapidly changing or reversing the polarity of an electrical circuit. The tool typically consists of a T-shaped handle attached to a rotatable mechanism with brushes or contacts that switch the connections when turned.
The mechanism usually includes two terminals and two brushes mounted on an insulating base, which rotate to reverse the polarity on the contact strips. This allows quick experimentation or testing of electrical circuits by changing the direction of current flow without rewiring.
Reversing keys are commonly used in physics and electronics labs for experiments involving direct current (DC) circuits, motors, or any application requiring polarity reversal. They are designed for durability, good electrical contact, and ease of use.
