Description
Type M thermocouples are specialized temperature sensors used mainly in vacuum and oxidizing atmospheres, with a temperature range from approximately -200°C to 1400°C (-328°F to 2552°F). They function based on the Seebeck effect, which generates a voltage proportional to the temperature difference between two junctions of dissimilar metals.
The Type M thermocouple consists of two different metals:
Positive leg: Pure Nickel (Ni)
Negative leg: Nickel-10% Copper alloy (NiCu)
These thermocouples are suitable for high-temperature measurements and are valued for their robustness in harsh environments. The voltage output produced is typically in the millivolt range and requires conversion to temperature readings via standard charts or instruments.
