Plank’s Constant Apparatus using Solar Cell
Description
Description
The apparatus consists of a photoelectric solar cell (typically selenium type), a filament light bulb with adjustable power supply, and a set of colored optical filters.
The light emitted from the filament bulb passes through different color filters and falls on the solar cell, generating a photoelectric current.
Voltage and current from the solar cell are measured using sensitive digital meters connected to the setup.
By varying the light intensity and wavelength (using filters), and measuring the stopping voltage, the experiment calculates the Planck’s constant according to Wien’s displacement law and the photoelectric equation

The apparatus includes adjustments for light intensity and alignment, ensuring accurate measurements of photoelectric response at various frequencies.
This setup provides a hands-on experimental demonstration of the quantum nature of light and the dependency of emitted photoelectrons on frequency, essential for understanding fundamental physics principles.
